(23-40 weeks)

This will determine the growth and health of the baby. It involves measuring the size of the head, abdomen and thigh bone and calculating an estimate of weight, examining the baby’s movements, evaluating the placental position and appearance, measuring the amount of amniotic fluid, and assessing the blood flow to the placenta.

We recommend that all women have this scan. However, it is particularly important that women who have previously experienced or are currently experiencing pregnancy complications have the scan.

*Depending on your results throughout the pregnancy, your gynaecologist may recommend that you participate in further testing.
